DeWitt Varsity Dragonettes Defeat Drew Central On Back Of Clutch Display From AC Cox

4/26/24 - DeWitt Dragonettes finished up the regular season 12-0 in conference and 18-2 on the season.

On Friday, in the final conference game, AC Cox drove in five runs on four hits to lead DeWitt Varsity Dragonettes past Drew Central 17-1 at DeWitt High School. Cox singled in the third scoring two, doubled in the first scoring one, doubled in the second scoring one, and tripled in the second scoring one.

DeWitt got on the board in the bottom of the first inning after Cox doubled, Harley Grammer doubled, and Neci Hill singled, each scoring one run.

Dragonettes scored nine runs in the second inning on the way to victory. Cox, Belle Easterwood and Emma Bazarow doubled, each scoring one run. Khloe Lloyd, Bailey Robison, and Adley Davis singles, scoring one run each. Easterwood doubled, scoring two runs. And Cox tripled, scoring one run.

DeWitt Varsity Dragonettes scored five runs on five hits in the bottom of the third inning. Davis singled, scoring two runs, Bazarow tripled, scoring one run, and Cox singled, scoring two runs.

Hill earned the win for DeWitt Varsity Dragonettes. The righty gave up three hits and one run (zero earned) over three innings, striking out five and walking none. McRae took the loss for Drew Central. The starting pitcher went one and two-thirds innings, surrendering 12 runs on 13 hits, striking out none and walking two.

DeWitt Dragonettes collected 18 hits in the game.

DeWitt Varsity Dragons Defeat Drew Central Varsity Pirates Behind Strong Performance From Wyatt Jones

4/26/24 - Wyatt Jones struck out 11 batters as the righty led DeWitt Varsity Dragons past Drew Central Varsity Pirates 6-0 on Friday. Jones gave up two hits and zero runs over seven innings while walking two.

Dragons jumped out to the lead in the bottom of the fifth inning after Justin Ross drew a walk, scoring one run, and a wild pitch scored one run.

Jase Watt stepped on the mound first for Drew Central Varsity Pirates. He gave up two hits and three runs over four and one-third innings, striking out five and walking three.

Ross led DeWitt with two runs batted in. The third baseman went 1-for-3 on the day. Hayden McCarley, Daigan Burnett, and Ross each collected one hit for DeWitt Varsity Dragons. Kaden Pippinger paced DeWitt Varsity Dragons with two walks. Overall, the team had patience at the plate, amassing seven walks for the game.
