Department of Finance and Administration Suspends Penalty for Late Motor Vehicle Registration

The Department of Finance and Administration has been working with the Governors office to allow all late March tag renewals to be late without penalty.

On Monday, March 30, 2020, DFA began posting parts of a suspension of late penalties online, but as of yet they have not given directives.

For now, local law enforcement should recognize this move by the state and the DFA recommends latitude when seeing delinquent MARCH tags on a vehicle.

Citizens are encouraged to call or electronically connect into their offices, including DFA, to handle license renewals over the phone or internet.
