Statement From DeWitt Mayor Jimmy Black

In response to the ongoing COVID-19 outbreak in several counties joining Arkansas County, Mayor Black of DeWitt AR, has made the following decision.

To protect the health of all persons in the community our public buildings, including the Community Center, will be closed to the general public effective March 23, 2020. For now, the park will remain open, but we encourage our citizens to use it sparingly, especially the playground equipment.

Residents are encouraged to handle business by email or phone as our employees continue to conduct business and remain accessible. The mayor's email address dewittmayor@centurytel.net. The phone number to city hall is 870-946-1776, the city clerk's number is 870-946-2191.

To pay fines for the Dewitt Police Department, you may call 877-591-8768 to pay over the phone. You may also send a money order to 120 Court Square Dewitt, AR 72042. Please make it out to, Dewitt Police Department. If you must stop by City Hall, we will come out to meet you or you can pass papers or payments through our slot in the door. You may also mail in payments to 115 North Adam St DeWitt, AR 72042.

I encourage everyone to remain calm. Please buy only the things you need as you normally would. We don't know how long this is going to last. The best way to avoid infection is to limit contact with others. I know that everyone will do their part to try to prevent this virus from spreading.
