Severe Weather Announcements

March 30, 2022

With the potential for severe weather in our area, the following announcements have been released and we will continue to update this report when new information is available.

*Message to DeWitt Public Schools Parents: We have and will continue to monitor the weather as it approaches this afternoon. The school will take every necessary precaution to keep students safe. All students and faculty have access to tornado safe rooms and we will be proactive in entering the safe rooms, if necessary, well ahead of any threat.

*Phillips Community College of the University of Arkansas: All PCCUA campuses will close today at 12:30 p.m. due to potential severe weather.

*City of DeWitt: Wednesday is the day that tornado sirens are usually tested. Please be aware that if you hear the tornado sirens go off today on Wednesday, March 30th, 2022, to take shelter immediately, as they will not be tested due to the severe weather.

*Mayor Black and Chief Bobo issued the following letter regarding the saferoom at the school: The intent of this letter is to confirm that the use of the safe rooms during school hours is restricted to students and faculty due to occupancy limitations. Normal school hours are considered from 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. unless a late release is warranted. The safe rooms are available for anyone after school hours and on the weekends.
