Victor Johnson Candidate for Zone 1 Stuttgart School Board

In addition to the Candidate Forum that was presented by the Stuttgart Chamber of Commerce and Southeast Arkansas Broadcasters, the DeWitt Era-Enterprise wanted to help inform the public about the candidates. After putting together several questions, they were submitted to all candidates.

My name is Victor Johnson and I am running for Zone 1.

What made you want to throw your hat in?

To bring diversity and help make a difference in the school district.

How do you feel you can move our school board forward?

By working with the superintendent and other board members to make the Stuttgart school district more efficient.

What do you feel are issues facing the school district? How do you propose to help solve them?

The biggest issue we face is the retention of qualified teachers and we can resolve this issue by creating a comfortable environment by providing the tools and assistance needed to make them comfortable with staying in the district.

What do you feel is the responsibility of the school board?

The number 1 responsibility is to work with the superintendent on policies and procedures.

Do you have children in the district? If so, where do they attend?

No.

Can you be fair to all children?

Absolutely. I stand on principles and policies that we use to govern in the school.

What strengths will you bring to the board, if elected?

The ability to work with the other school board members and the superintendent and the ability to assist in problem solving.

Can you set personal feelings aside and work for the district as a whole?

Yes and this has been proven in my 11-month - tenure as a current board member.

Why should voters elect you?

The experience that I have gained in my 11-month tenure and what Stuttgart is facing with a new superintendent coming in and all 7 positions open. It is important to have experienced board members to work with the new superintendent and any new board members.
