STONE BANK TO SPONSOR CONCERT FRIDAY, NOV. 11 TO HONOR ARKANSAS COUNTY VETERANS; OZARK FOLK CENTER MUSICIANS TO PERFORM
Stone Bank announced plans to sponsor a Veterans Appreciation Concert on Friday, November 11 at the Veteran Memorial Building, 112 North Main St. in DeWitt. The concert will begin at 6 p.m. and is free to the public. Seating is limited and will be on a first-come basis. This is the second year the bank has sponsored a concert honoring area Veterans.
Ozark Folk Center favorites Grace Stormont and Whoa Mule! will perform. The event is co-sponsored by American Legion Post 158 and American Legion Auxiliary Unit 158.
“The bank has an ongoing partnership with Ozark Highlands Radio and the Ozark Folk Center to aid in promoting roots-based music at the Center and around the state,” said Marnie Oldner, CEO of Stone Bank. “We had a tremendous response last year and are excited to honor our Vets again.”
“The two groups we’re bringing to DeWitt are Ozark Folk Center favorites,” said Daren Dortin, executive producer of Ozark Highlands Radio and music coordinator at the Folk Center.
The bank sponsored similar events in Mountain View and Harrison, where they also have branch locations.
Featured Entertainment at the November 11 Concert
Whoa Mule! is a string band with over three centuries of musical blood flowing through their veins. The honest, down-home style of music, humor and Ozark Mountain tales are the group’s true calling card. A decade of entertaining at the Ozark Folk Center State Park has earned them the park’s “Entertainers of the Year” honors and they remain one of the most popular groups that perform regularly at the Ozark Folk Center State Park. Whoa Mule presents a portrait of Ozark hill life and music from yesteryear that comes to live today.
Grace Stormont is a vocalist and multi-instrumental performer who plays old time, folk, gospel, and jazz music. She is one of the area’s young performers who has taken hold of the traditional music of this region and brought it to a new and diverse audience.
Stone Bank has locations in DeWitt, Gillett, Little Rock, White Hall, Harrison and Mountain View.
