Cops Care Brings Christmas Cheer to Local Families
Christmas is just around the corner and many have been shopping for their children, families, and loved ones since the holiday sales began. However, many families struggle during the holidays to provide Christmas presents to their children. With the increase in prices on groceries and other items, this year is even harder for some families to buy presents.
Seeing the need in the DeWitt community, members of Cops Care went above and beyond on Sunday, December 11, 2022, and provided Christmas presents to over two-hundred children, and thanks to other local donations, some families were gifted with a gift card to use toward the purchase of food items for Christmas, and others were provided with cases of canned vegetables that were donated to Cops Care by the 20th Century Knights.
One by one, the children and their parents and grandparents arrived at the DeWitt Police Department and they were surprised to see Santa waiting for them! Each child received three presents and got to tell Santa just how good they had been. Although most were excited to see him, not all wanted to get close but they were still very thankful for their Christmas gifts.
While opening presents and waiting for their names to be called, the children were shocked when the Grinch snuck in the back door! Some children ran, but others enjoyed having their pictures taken with the Grinch.
Cops Care is a non-profit organization that started in 2021. Their purpose is to give back to the community at Christmas, and this year they were able to help 82 families and over 200 children have one of the best Christmases ever!
