Grand Prairie Historical Society to Meet in Gillett Thursday

The Grand Prairie Historical Society will hold their spring quarterly meeting Thursday, April 20 at Gillett United Methodist Church, 301 West Leslie Avenue. The event will take place in the church’s fellowship hall. After a social hour with light refreshments starting at 6:00, Dr. Andrew Beaupré, Station Archeologist at UA-Pine Bluff, will present an interesting program on a planned archeological dig in 2024 near Arkansas Post, beginning at 7:00. The public is cordially invited to attend. The Historical Society is a 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to the preservation and interpretation of this region’s heritage. Four quarterly programs are held. In addition, members receive four newsletters and two journals. Interested citizens are encouraged to join the Society’s efforts by sending $25 annual dues to Treasurer Carol Roberson, P.O. Box 3621, Little Rock, AR 72203.
