Donal Harrell Simpson

Donal Harrell Simpson was born November 1, 1929, to Harvey and Ruth Pittman Simpson. He passed peacefully on April 21, 2023 at the age of 93. Donal was a lifelong farmer and resident of the Pt. DeLuce community leaving only to serve honorably in the United States Army during the Korean War. He was married to Colene Landon Simpson on January 24, 1959. Donal was preceded in death by his parents and wife; brothers William Simpson, Garland Simpson, and Bobby Joe Simpson; and one sister Mary Kathryn Ruffin.

Donal was a member of the Pleasant Grove Methodist Church and served on the boards of Farm Bureau, Riceland Foods, Arkansas Petroleum, LaGrue Hunting Club, and Co-Op Elevator throughout his life. He could also be found serving and giving where needed in family, church, and community.

He is survived by his son Roy Don and Crystal Simpson and one sister, Marjorie Kraft. He also leaves a host of nieces and nephews along with great and great-great nieces and nephews and a community who all affectionately knew him as Uncle Donal. His absence will be particularly felt by all on his evening route through the community and the many miles of gravel roads he traveled.

Services were held at Essex Funeral Home in DeWitt on Monday, April 24, 2023 at 10am with visitation one hour prior. Burial followed in Cedarcrest Memorial Gardens.
