James Dabner, Jr.

James Dabner, Jr. was born March 20, 1942, to the late James Dabner, Sr. and Gracie Bradley Dabner in Stuttgart, Arkansas.

Affectionately known as ‘Dab’ or ‘JD’, he worked at Riceland Foods for over thirty years. He was a very hard worker and was loved by all his coworkers.

On December 22, 1980, JD married Janice Betts. And to this union, he gained another daughter Liz.

JD cherished the time spent with his family. He loved all his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren; he took great joy in helping to raise them. JD was the uncle that all his nieces and nephews loved and admired. His favorite saying was "hey ugly" or "whatcha’ doing ugly.”

Later in life JD accepted Christ as his Lord and Savior and joined his brother Reverend Henry Dabner, Sr. at St. Paul MB Church in Roe, Arkansas. He adored his church family. JD was a Deacon at the church and became someone his church family could look up to.

He passed on May 8, 2023. JD was preceded in death by his parents James and Gracie Dabner, Sr., and siblings Mary Dabner, Martha Dabner, Leola Dabner Jackson, Sercie Dabner Smith, and Virginia Holt.

JD leaves to cherish his memories his wife Janice Dabner; children James Dabner III (Della), Janice Dabner, Vickie Dabner, Kimberly Dabner, and his loving bonus daughter Lizzie Wofford; twenty grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; brothers Eddie (Mary) Dabner and Henry (Gloria) Dabner, Sr.; sisters Ruby Browley, Marva Joe Dabner, Marblelene Alexander, and Bular Taylor; longtime friends Joe Alexander and RB Morrow; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

Visitation held May 19, 2023, 5-6 pm at Relerford Funeral Home, Stuttgart. Funeral Service held May 20, 2023, 11am at Allen Temple MB Church, Stuttgart.
