Helen Yvonne Terry Rodgers

Helen Yvonne Terry Rodgers, 85, of DeWitt went to her Heavenly home July 14, 2023. She was born March 11, 1938, in St. Charles to Walton and Helen Hines Terry.

Yvonne was a homemaker and taught for many years at First Baptist Church pre-school. She was a longtime member of First Baptist Church and attended faithfully until her health wouldn't allow her to. She taught various classes over the years at church, served on many committees, and sang in the choir. Yvonne had a loving heart and was a devoted caretaker for several family members. In her spare time, Yvonne was a Master Gardener of many years.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Jimmie D. Rodgers; and sister Kay Spencer.

Yvonne is survived by her children Jimelle Rodgers Hancock (Guy) of Mesquite, TX, and David Rodgers (Faye) of DeWitt; three grandchildren Olivia Hancock Thompson (Jeff), Ben Hancock, and John Rodgers; one brother Sam Terry (Katheryn) of Hot Springs Village; sisters Julie Johns of Little Rock and Libbie Dougan of North Little Rock; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were July 16 at First Baptist Church with burial following in Bayou Meto Cemetery by Essex Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church Activity Building Fund. www.essexfuneralhome.com
