20th Century Knights Spread Christmas Cheer
On Sunday, December 10, 2023, at 2:00 p.m. at the DeWitt Community Center, the 20th Century Knights blessed children in the community who wrote their Christmas wishes in a letter to Santa. Each year, the non-profit organization accepts Letters to Santa from children in the community and they then provide the children with some of the items on their wish lists.
Founded in 1944, the non-profit gives back to the neighborhoods that they grew up in. This year’s event is the 11th annual event and the children who attended got to visit with Santa as they received their gifts. Video games, bicycles, dolls, digital cameras, gift cards, and more were provided to the children and as they received their gifts, their eyes sparkled with happiness. Those receiving the bicycles could hardly wait to jump on and ride around the room!
Once Santa finished handing out presents, everyone enjoyed punch, cupcakes, and cookies that were provided by Phillips Community College of the University of Arkansas DeWitt campus.
The 20th Century Knights organization not only filled some of the wish list items of the children, but they also donated cases upon cases of canned goods to the Gillett Food Pantry.
Giving back to the neighborhood is important to all the members and they would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to Charles Horton of Horton Tax Service, Phyllis Fullerton, the DeWitt Chamber of Commerce, Phillips Community College of the University of Arkansas, Shawanna Phillips, Charlotte Purdy, and Stop the Violence for their support.
To make a donation, mail payments to 20th Century Knights, 5001 West 34th Street, Little Rock, AR, 72204.
