Jerry DeWayne McFerrin

Jerry DeWayne McFerrin, 70, passed away peacefully at home from end stage dementia on December 10, 2023. He was born February 6, 1953, in DeWitt to Johnny Carroll and Marthelma Fisher McFerrin.

Jerry loved hunting and fishing, riding horses, gardening, and spending time with his grandchildren. He retired after many years of farming.

Preceding him death were his parents; his wife, Thelma Shelton McFerrin; two brothers Paul and Richard McFerrin; and two sisters Betty Bates and Myreta McFerrin.

He is survived by his wife Angie Nutt; his daughter Jamie McFerrin (Ray Purifoy) of Pine Bluff; two grandchildren Ja'dehlee and Zeklynd Purifoy of Pine Bluff; stepsons Will Aycock (Michelle) of Fordyce, Gage Kirby (Tasha) of Little Rock, and John Kirby of DeWitt; four step grandchildren Izzack Kirby of Paragould, Brightlee Kirby of Little Rock, and Nora Lee and Trip Aycock of Fordyce; brother Donnie McFerrin of Stuttgart; two sisters Frances Fry (Charles) of DeWitt and Irene Jenkins (Johnny) of Roe; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Visitation was held 5-7 p.m. December 12 at Essex Funeral Home. Funeral services were at 2:00 p.m. December 13 at Essex Funeral Home. Burial followed in Hockenberry Cemetery. www.essexfuneralhome.com
