Bill's Corner of the World

by Bill Shrum

Hi Everyone! Well, this week, if the weather people have predicted correct, we should be close to our butts in snow as of this week. Last year, we had a few snow days and one time Stuttgart, where I live got almost eight inches of snow and the temperatures went close to below 10 degrees. My pipes busted and the water ran all over the place. You talking about a mess. I had one. I hope not to have that drama again.

Everyone has been telling me precautions of freezing pipes and staying warm. I listen to people because I know these helpful hints can help me. I do know it is going to get cold and they also told me to always get milk and bread. I always tell them I have to get a few other things besides milk and bread. They never say anything else, but I tell them I have other things to get besides those two things.

I live three blocks from a large grocery store and about two blocks from the closest Dollar Store. I live also three blocks from McDonalds and so I don't think I am going to starve to death. I would really get tired of it if I was snowed in for a long period of time though. Everyone would if it was a long time. Knee deep and nowhere to go wouldn't be nice at all.

The kids are back in school and I am sure they will get a few days off too. I know the kids will love that, when we were in school, we always liked it too. We all would listen to the radio on the morning of the snow and make sure we were off, so could play in it. WOW, did we have fun. There was a large incline at the end of our street, we would take a piece of cardboard and slide down that hill every time it snowed. So much fun, we did that every year. We looked forward to it. Till Next Time!!!!
