PCCUA lands third and fourth in best Arkansas community colleges rankings
Phillips Community College of the University of Arkansas (PCCUA) has been ranked #3 among Arkansas' best community colleges in a recent ranking by the higher education experts at BestColleges.com and ranked #4 in a similar ranking by the Higher Education team at Intelligent.com.
Both reputable sources for students in terms of planning for college, BestColleges.com and Intelligent.com have taken a lot of the guess work out for students trying to find the right higher learning institution.
BestColleges.com considered a number of factors including affordability, student outcomes, flexibility and accessibility, reputation, ease of admissions, and student diversity with data retrieved from the National Center for Education Statistics and the U.S. Department of Education College Scorecard.
The ranking by Intelligent.com examined nonprofit, accredited institutions - public and private - with high standards of academic quality for post-secondary institutions. They compared this comprehensive list to a list of combined college rankings from notable publications, like the U.S. News & World Report, to simplify a student's college search. Schools were evaluated considering a number of factors including tuition costs, admission, retention and graduation rates, faculty, and reputation, as well as student resources.
"These newest rankings are further evidence of our commitment to our students and their individual success," stated PCCUA Chancellor Dr. Keith Pinchback. "I can't say enough about the tireless work and dedication of our faculty and staff on each campus. They are the reason that we are well-known for excellence in our educational programs. We continually look for ways to enhance the college experience for our students and are ever mindful of our changing world, what those changes can mean for you and me, and what it is to be a leading community college in this modern age."
Pinchback further noted that PCCUA stands out from the rest through its regional accreditation from the Higher Learning Commission and from being nationally recognized as the ONLY Achieving the Dream (ATD) Leader College of Distinction in Arkansas and among only a few to reach this status nationwide. Although there are over 300 community colleges nationwide that are part of ATD, there are only a handful of Leader Colleges of Distinction.
PCCUA students may choose from flexible course offerings available online and at any of our three campuses to best fit their busy lives and commutes. Additionally, our students may obtain an Associate of Arts degree totally online. PCCUA also provides a variety of financial aid programs, scholarships, and opportunities benefitting students, who have excelled on the ACT Test, as well as those, who excelled in their high school technical curriculum. Students may also apply for a multitude of targeted scholarships, such as Reach Scholarships, The Great River Promise Scholarship, and Arkansas Rural Health Scholarship, through which recipients may receive additional funding for tuition and/or equipment/supplies.
