Glen Murry Widener

Glen Murry Widener, 95 years of age, departed for his Heavenly Home February 9, 2024. Glen was born July 13, 1928, to Barney and Georgia Widener.

He was preceded in death by his wife Margaret Elizabeth (Bettye) Anderson Widener and children Meredith Ann Calhoun of Des Arc and David Murry Widener of Beebe. Glen was also predeceased by his wife, Lexa Springer Widener and his siblings Naomi Miller, Edward, C.W., and Barney Widener, Jr.

He is survived by daughters Sheila (Bill) Noble and JoBeth (Stanley) Shadwick of Crocketts Bluff, AR; daughter-in-law Jan Widener of Beebe; son-in-law Butch Calhoun (Lynn) of Des Arc; sister-in-law Theresa Anderson of DeWitt; stepchildren Clif (Brenda) Springer of Bryant and Reid Springer of Little Rock and their families. Glen is also survived by grandchildren Brooke Noble (Carl), Drew Widener (Lindsey), Drake Widener (Laura), Heather Parker (Shain), Bart Calhoun (Laura), Judd Shadwick, and Clint Shadwick(Ellen); great-grandchildren Emily Webb (Michael), Madison Bouscher, Marley Widener, Kanaan Widener, Rowan Widener, Maggie Widener, Ella Widener, Dax Whitmore, Dare Whitmore, William Calhoun, Jack Calhoun, Meredith Calhoun, Beth Ann Shadwick, Cy Shadwick, Walker Shadwick. and Weston Shadwick; great-great-grandchildren Harlen Webb, Harper Webb, Sophia Noble, Kingstan Lovett, and Millie Castillo.

Glen was a faithful member and Deacon of St. Charles Baptist Church where he also served as treasurer and music director. Most recently teaching the Sr. Adult Sunday School Class. He also served his country in the Army (1947-48) as a military policeman in Vienna, Austria. He later married Bettye Anderson and he worked at Fairbanks and Morris in Stuttgart as a welder. They later moved to Crocketts Bluff where he farmed most of his life.

Glen's service will be Wednesday, February 14, 2024, at 2:00 p.m. at St. Charles Baptist Church with burial following at Crocketts Bluff Cemetery. The family requests that memorials be given to St. Charles Baptist Church, P.O. Box 214, St. Charles, AR 72140. www.essexfuneralhome.com
