Spirit of ‘ 4-H’ers Work on Spring Flower Project
…Everywhere a chick chick! That’s what the Spirit of ’76 4-H ‘ers heard as they arrived for their April meeting. It was perfect timing for the chicks to be delivered the same day as their meeting so everyone got to admire the one-day old chicks before they headed to their new home with Timber, Maci, Emma, Hadlee, Heston, Blake, and Bryce after the meeting.
After enjoying some after-school snacks, thirteen members spent time painting flower pots in preparation for planting flowers in them at the May meeting. With Earth Day a few days away, their community service project was picking up pine cones and limbs around the Extension Office to help make for a better environment for those who visit the office.
Several members also signed up to try their hand at raising Giant Pumpkins and Watermelons. The seeds will be delivered in May to allow them the proper growing time for delivering to the County Fair for competition.
The next meeting will be May 15 from 3:30 – 5:00 pm at the County Extension Office. For information on how you can become involved as a 4-H member or leader contact the Extension office at 870-659-2058.
