Martin Elish James, 71, of DeWitt, AR, went to be with his heavenly Father May 2, 2024 at DeWitt City Hospital. He was born May 28, 1952, to the late Pete and Bernice James.

He graduated from DeWitt High School, where he played football. After graduation, he joined the United States Army, where he served his country. After returning to DeWitt, he became the owner and operator of his own trucking company. Later he became a truck driver for Whitmore Fertilizer in DeWitt. He was a man of many talents and a hard worker.

He is preceded in death by his parents; 4 brothers Wayne, Michael, Bennie, and Johnny James.

He is survived by his loving wife Denise Criswell James and his faithful friend Jax of DeWitt, AR; one stepson Ty (Erin) Murry of Huntsvile, AR; 2 brothers Earl (Cathy) James of DeWitt, AR, and Rickey (Vickie) James of Bayou Meto, AR; 4 sisters, Lennie Carrol, Joyce Noe, Twila(Ed) Allen, and Mary Ann ( Randy) Garrison all of Dewitt, AR; one brother-in-law Rick (Carolyn)Criswell of DeWitt, AR; 3 sisters-in-law Gina (Kevin) McSwain and Nancy Blackmon of DeWitt, AR and Marcella (Claud) Adams of St. Charles, AR; one very special sister-in-law Sally ( Mike)Norton of Nady, AR; and a host of other relatives and friends who will forever cherish his memory.

Visitation was held on May 4 at 9:30 AM at First Assembly of God in DeWitt. The funeral services followed at 10:30 AM with burial at Cedarcrest Memorial Gardens.
