Dawn’s Delights
For those who don’t know, I had a very traumatic event happen on Tuesday night. If you don’t know about it, I am not sharing it in this column. What I want to share is through it all, I can not thank the Stuttgart Fire Department, the Stuttgart Police Department, The ambulance service, and most importantly, my church family at St. Alban’s. The accident happened right in front of the church and within minutes, several were outside offering me love, support, hugs. It meant so very much, I have no words (and I am a writer…) As I said at the time, when something like this happens, I am very strong, stoic even. It is much later when it hits me and I lose it. Yes, that happened Wednesday morning. And Thursday morning. I feel confident saying it will happen again on Friday morning.
Luckily, I have been so busy, I haven’t had time to dwell on it.I want to give a huge shout out to my church, St. Alban’s Episcopal. Many don’t know this, but I was confirmed, in St. Alban’s on March 22, 1982. I know I’m old! But then we moved to Texas, back to Arkansas, but didn’t return to St. Alban’s until after attending last year’s pancake supper, where Father Ray Brown invited me to attend the Ash Wednesday Service, I did. Then after that, Father Brown sent me a note thanking me for attending and that I was welcome back anytime. I must say when I went, I felt like I had come home. The best part is how welcoming they are. They really proved it after my accident. Not just a few of them, almost all of them, and not just checking on me one day, they have been checking on me everyday. Just a note of encouragement, praying hands, hearts and “love you’s”. I feel it and I feel Jesus through each and everyone of them!
If you don’t have a home church, or maybe don’t even go to church, come visit St. Alban’s, 10:30 a.m. on Sunday.
A healthy Arkansas County requires great community news.
