Dawn’s Delights
Bill loved my broccoli cheese soup, and most of all my banana pudding. Whenever I made them I was sure to take him some. I’ve known Bill for around close to 50 years, his brother worked for my dad. Many of you don’t know this, but Bill was my inspiration to study writing in college when I went back at age 45. I reminded him of that recently. The last call on my phone the night of the accident was from Bill asking if I was going to the pancake supper and I said, I’m already here. He said see ya soon! My heart is doubly broken
I remember his 75th birthday at St. Alban’s and my lil Hattie Jo and he had the best time. She was so excited to come to Bill’s 75th birthday party. Bill always said he thought she probably acts just like I did…(He may very well be right…)
As editor of the Era-Enterprise, I could always count on Bill to fill in at the last minute and oh how he loved covering the Queen Mallard pageants, the Miss Stuttgart or any pageant, especially if Hagen Hord was in.
Bill knew everyone and he and I could laugh and banter because it was a totally safe place. We loved each other and accepted each other’s idiosyncrasies and our version of crazy, I will miss him as a colleague, friend and role model always and hope he knows how much I cared
Bill was one of a kind, for sure. And I always felt he was so innocent, he saw the best in people, even when they didn’t deserve it. Won’t be the same without you….
I could write a novel full of Bill’s stories, he was without guile and had the biggest heart ever.
Wear you crown well, Bill
