In memory of Bill Shrum
Bill Shrum had a remarkable gift for making young people feel seen, valued, and celebrated. Whenever he came to interview our 4-H members for the newspaper, he treated them like movie stars. With genuine interest and thoughtful questions, he captured not only their achievements but also their personalities, dreams, and hard work.
Bill was a steadfast supporter of 4-H and a true champion of our youth. Through his wonderful interviews and photographs, he consistently showcased our members in the very best light, giving them a sense of pride and accomplishment that will not be forgotten. His presence at our events especially our annual awards banquet meant a great deal to our families and volunteers.
In 2017, the Clover Kids 4-H Club was honored to present Bill with the “Best Newspaperman” award, a small token of our deep appreciation for the encouragement and recognition he so generously gave to our children.
His legacy lives on in the confidence he inspired, the stories he told, and the countless young people who felt like stars because he believed they were. He will be greatly missed and fondly remembered.
A healthy Arkansas County requires great community news.
