DeWitt School Board Holds May Meeting

The DeWitt School Board met on May 4 at 6:00 p.m. in the Administrative Boardroom. The meeting was called to order following the invocation and Pledge of Allegiance. Several personnel matters were discussed during executive session.

Under Certified Resignations, the Board accepted the resignation of Kim Hathorn, DeWitt Elementary School teacher, effective June 30, 2026. The resignation of Becca Tanner, Assistant Softball Coach, stipend position only, was also accepted effective June 30, 2026. Additionally, Jennifer Hackleton, DeWitt Elementary School teacher, submitted her resignation effective June 30, 2026.

Under Certified New Hires, the Board approved the employment of Janie Cardin as a DeWitt Elementary School teacher effective July 1, 2026. Madison Weast was also approved as a DeWitt Elementary School teacher beginning July 1. Carson Ray was hired as DeWitt Middle School Social Studies teacher, as well as Assistant Junior/Senior Girls Basketball Coach and Assistant Softball Coach, effective July 1.

The Board further approved the hiring of Shanna Place as DeWitt High School Biology and Advanced Placement Biology teacher beginning July 1. Leigh Ann Haynes was approved as Senior Cheer Sponsor, including applicable stipend and additional contract days. Bethany Clawson was approved as Junior Cheer Sponsor effective July 1. Haley Beaton was named the new Junior Class Sponsor, and Jennifer Hackleton was approved to serve as DeWitt High School Counselor effective July 1, 2026.
