Stuttgart Ricebirds Defeated By Pea Ridge Varsity Blackhawks
Stuttgart Ricebirds could not keep up with Pea Ridge Varsity Blackhawks 6-3 on Thursday.
Stuttgart Ricebirds opened the scoring in the second after Axton McCrea singled, scoring one run.
The Stuttgart Ricebirds added one run in the third. Austin Fontenot singled down the right field line on the sixth pitch of the at-bat, making the score 2-0.
Dagan Duncan led things off on the mound for Stuttgart Ricebirds. The starting pitcher gave up five hits and four runs (three earned) over five and one-third innings, striking out eight and walking four. Cash Schroeder led things off on the hill for Pea Ridge Varsity Blackhawks. The starting pitcher surrendered five hits and two runs (zero earned) over five innings, striking out seven and walking two.
Nathan Spoon, Dagan Duncan, Austin Fontenot, Beau Barnes, Axton McCrea, Braxton Kirkdoffer, and Hayden Prine each collected one hit for Stuttgart Ricebirds. Duncan, Fontenot, and McCrea each drove in one run for Stuttgart Ricebirds. Stuttgart Ricebirds turned one double play in the game.
Wiles went 3-for-4 at the plate to lead Pea Ridge Varsity Blackhawks in hits. Colin McGarrah collected two hits for Pea Ridge Varsity Blackhawks in two at bats. Schroeder led Pea Ridge Varsity Blackhawks with two walks. Overall, the team had a strong eye at the plate, collecting six walks for the game. The season did not end like the Diamond Birds wanted it to but they played hard all year.
