by Kylia Neasley

The Juneteenth Community Event held Saturday, June 20, at the Grand Prairie Center and Museum of the Grand Prairie brought together families, local vendors, and community members for a day of celebration, culture, and fellowship.

The event featured a variety of vendors, community activities, cultural exhibits, and opportunities for attendees to learn more about the significance of Juneteenth while supporting local businesses and organizations.
One of the highlights of the afternoon was the African Attire Fashion Show, which featured both youth and adult participants. Children proudly showcased traditional-inspired African attire while celebrating cultural heritage, confidence, and community pride. Adult participants also took to the runway, displaying vibrant fashions that reflected the beauty, diversity, and rich traditions of African culture.
The fashion show provided a meaningful opportunity for participants of all ages to express themselves while honoring history, heritage, and cultural identity. Through fashion, education, and community engagement, the event encouraged pride in cultural traditions and strengthened connections across generations.
Organizers were pleased with the community support and participation throughout the day and look forward to continuing this celebration of culture, education, and unity in the years to come.
